Keep you skin looking healthy this summer

As the summer progresses, most of us are hoping the warm weather will continue.   We all enjoy a bit of sunshine, but its important to look after your skin, particularly during the summer months, to keep it healthy and younger looking.

Ageing skin is part of the natural ageing process it can also be exacerbated by sun damage; over exposure for long periods of time to the sun and too much sunbathing, all easily done in these summer months.

It’s important to stay hydrated with plenty of water, and to use a high factor sun screen.  A healthy balanced diet, low in saturated fat will also help keep your skin younger looking for longer.

You may have a beauty regime involving, creams, masks, makeup, mosturisers, etc but what you put inside your body is just as important as what you put on the outside!  As we just mentioned plenty of water at all times, especially in the summertime will help to keep your skin fresh and hydrated.  The recommended daily minimum amount is 8 glasses every day.  Healthy skin comes from what we eat as well and summer time is the perfect time to take a look at your diet.

Cutting down on sugar and refined processed foods is a good idea as these will give you unbalanced sugar levels which actually contributes to premature ageing.  Instead, go for plenty of fruit and vegetables, salads ; the more colourful the better as this will give you a better range of antioxidants and nutrients that your skin needs.  Sugar free natural yogurt is a good healthy addition to any diet.

Some fats are actually good for you, and stop the skin from drying and looking old too quickly:  Avoid hygdrogenated fat and opt for healthy natural occurring fats that can be found in things such as nuts and seeds and fish .
