Braces? What braces?

Imagine if you could get your teeth straightened by magic. Every day, they’d move a tiny, tiny bit without having to have clunky brackets and wires fixed to the front of your teeth to get them to do so. After a few months of going about with nothing on your teeth, people would start to notice that your smile was looking better, but they’d have no idea that magic was making it happen.

If magic braces did exist, they’d have been in the Harry Potter books, but sadly, there is no such thing. However, the next best thing to magic braces does exist and it’s called Invisalign.

Invisalign is available from College Street Dental Centre in Petersfield, where we are busy straightening teeth as if by magic. In fact, you may have passed several of our happy patients in the street. Maybe you have even had conversations with them in shops or at parties. But you didn’t notice they were getting their teeth straightened because they were using Invisalign to do so.

Sounds almost too good to be true, doesn’t it?

How Invisalign works

Invisalign is the brand name for what are known as clear aligners. They are a rigid plastic cover for the teeth that look like ultra-thin mouth guards. Invisalign clear aligners are manufactured using highly detailed, precise measurements of your teeth, so that they fit over them exactly. Well, almost.

When you put on your first pair of Invisalign aligners (you can get them for upper and lower jaws), you will find that they don’t fit. This is deliberate. Inside each aligner are some carefully placed ridges and bumps. They press on your teeth to create the sustained pressure required to get them to move in the jaw.

You will receive a series of aligners, and you wear each one until it feels like it fits, which takes 7-10 days.

You take them out to eat and clean your teeth and then put them back in.

No one will know you’ve got them on, so it will seem like you are indeed using magic to realign your teeth.

Many people have a misconception that braces are for kids. But, it is not so. Yes, the ideal age to get braces treatment is during childhood but that does not mean adults cannot get braces. Any individual with healthy teeth and gums can get their teeth aligned with braces treatment. https://sabkadentist.com/orthodontic-treatment/
